Description

Number 20 on East Castle Street is a building dating from the 18th century, with its core likely from the 17th century. It is constructed of red brick and has two storeys plus an attic. The facade features six sash windows set in broad frames, each with moulded lintels and keyblocks. The entrance is highlighted by a moulded wood doorcase topped with a cornice hood supported by console brackets. The building has quoins at the sides and moulded stone eaves. There are three dormers, each adorned with moulded wood pediments, and the roof is covered with old tiles. Early 19th century wrought iron railings enclose the forecourt. This property is part of a group that includes numbers 18 to 33 on the same street.
