Description
Paddock Bridge Number 1 is an accommodation bridge built around 1801, with some minor later alterations. It is located on the Llangollen Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal, designed by William Jessop and Thomas Telford. The bridge is constructed of painted brick and features stone coping that ends in square corner piers. It has an elliptical arch with a string course. This section of the Ellesmere Canal was completed around 1801, and the Ellesmere Canal Company merged with the Chester Canal Company in 1813, later becoming part of the Shropshire Union Canal in 1846.
