Description
Nos. 12 and 14 Church Street are a pair of cottages dating from the late 17th century, which were remodeled in the mid- to late 20th century. The cottages are rendered, likely over a timber frame, with a 20th-century brick plinth and a slate roof. They are probably composed of three framed bays and stand two storeys tall. The cottages feature a plinth and an off-centre brick ridge stack located to the right. There are 20th-century casement windows, with three on the first floor and four on the ground floor. Two boarded doors, each with bracketed gabled hoods, are located—one to the left and one between the second and third windows. The repaired rendering indicates that the right-hand door has been slightly shifted to the right. Inside, there are substantial remains of the timber frame, including a square-panelled partition wall. The cottages are included for their group value.
