Description

The Yew Tree Inn is a public house dating back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the early 18th century and later additions. It is constructed of painted timber framing with painted rendered infill panels, and roughcast render. The roof is covered with plain tiles, featuring integral brick ridge chimneys. The building has an L-shaped plan, comprising long and short parallel ranges with lean-to and flat-roofed extensions.

The north front of the short range is a two-storey, two-window facade featuring 3/3 sash windows at the first floor and 6/6 sashes on the ground floor. A central, projecting entrance porch is present. The north wall of the long range has square framing with casements and single-storey flat-roofed extensions. The east side features twin gables with first-floor casements and projecting oriel windows with diagonal leaded lights at ground level. The south side of the long range is largely obscured by later lean-to and flat-roofed extensions. The west gable displays square panelled timber frame construction with tension and arch braces; the gable truss includes a straight tie beam, twin collars with vertical struts between, and twin raking struts above. The interior of the building was not inspected.
