Description
Insurance House is a house that has been converted into offices, dating from the late 18th century. It features painted roughcast cement render with a stone plinth topped with moulded ashlar coping, and has a plain-tile roof. The building has a rectangular three-cell plan with a gable end facing the street.
The exterior is two stories high with an attic. The street front includes two 6/6 sash windows with segmental arched heads, lintels, and moulded stone sills on both the ground and first floors. There is one similar sash window in the attic. On the right side, there is a central 6/6 sash window set in a segmental arched opening, with a 20th-century casement window to the left. The central entrance features a moulded wood pilaster doorcase with a radial fanlight and a plain cornice hood supported by console brackets. The rear of the building has 20th-century casement windows and is partly covered by a 20th-century flat-roofed two-story extension. The interior has not been inspected.
