Description
The Nag's Head Public House is a public house that dates from the late 15th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century. It features a timber frame that has been painted over and is topped with a plain tiled roof. The building stands three storeys tall and has a single-window range. The ground floor has a late 19th-century public house front, which includes a six-panelled door on the left and a three-light window with carved spandrels supporting the mullions, along with panelling below. Moulded brackets support a quatrefoil and dentilled frieze above the bressumer, leading to a jettied upper floor that has a continuous band of small-paned casement windows. The second storey is jettied and features a horizontally sliding sash window. At the rear, there is a two-storey wing with a gabled dormer. The ground floor has plaster over the timber frame with brick infill, and there are inserted doors on either side of a central inserted window. Above, there are casement windows with two and three lights. Square panelled framing is also visible in the gable wall adjoining the timber-framed building at the rear.
