Description

These are a group of houses on Corve Street, dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries, but built on the site of a 17th-century timber-frame building. The front facades are painted brick, with roughcast brick to number 74, and timber framing. Number 74 also incorporates original brickwork. The roof is covered in plain tiles, with a 17th-century brick ridge stack and another brick stack on the front right-hand side.

The houses are two storeys with an attic, and have a seven-window front. The windows are mostly modern casements, although number 74 retains some 19th-century windows, and has a central blocked opening. The timber framing features decorative box framing, including an embossed shield with the initials "E V B" and enriched eaves consoles. There are three modern dormers, and two 19th-century dormers on number 74's roof.

The ground floor of number 72 has a modern plank door with an overlight, flanked by modern bow windows with casements. Number 73 has a modern door, with two modern casements to the right, set under brick segmental arches and a storey band that runs across number 74. To the right of the door at number 73 is a 19th-century window with modern shutters. To the left is a plank double door leading to a rear passage. A brick stack is located at the rear of the properties.
