Description
This is a chest tomb located 15 metres south of the chancel of the Church of St Mary in Ashford Carbonell. It dates from the mid-19th century and is made of sandstone ashlar. The tomb features a plain cambered lid and has plain inscribed side panels with an incised border and inset quadrant corners. The corner sections are vertically fluted, and there is a plain plinth inset under the side panels. The memorial commemorates Richard Whiteman, Martha Whiteman, and their daughter Martha, who died in 1866, 1875, and 1836 respectively.
