Description
Home Farmhouse is a brick farmhouse, largely dating to 1805, with a rear wing from 1708 and 1724. The brick construction is complemented by a stone rubble plinth to the rear wing. The roof is tiled with a dentil course at the eaves and an ashlar-coped brick parapet to the gable of the rear wing. Integral brick gable-end stacks are present, along with a large brick stack to the rear featuring three spur-moulded shafts and connecting oversailing caps. The building follows a T-shaped plan.
The west front is a two-storey, three-window facade with 8/8 sash windows and stone lintels. An open cast-iron porch with a hipped tiled pentice roof provides access via a doorcase with pilastered panelled reveals and a top-light, leading to a six-panel door with glazed upper panels. The north side features a two-window range of casements with top-lights under brick segmental arches. An older rear wing is partly obscured by a rendered lean-to extension on this side. The rear gable displays a projecting gable with single leaded two-light casements to each storey and a datestone inscribed “I M 1708”. The south side includes the older rear wing, featuring a central dormer and boarded doors and casements with brick segmental-arched lintels on the lower level. More modern casements with brick segmental-arched lintels are located on the left. The interior has not been inspected.
