Description

This is a row of four houses, numbers 11 to 14, New Street, Shrewsbury, with one now used as a shop. The building dates to the mid-18th century, although it may incorporate elements from an earlier structure. It is constructed of brick and has a roof covered with Welsh slate. The houses are two storeys in height with attic dormers in the roof, and have a four-window front. The design is symmetrical, featuring two doorways side-by-side in the centre of the elevation, and one at each end. The doorways have renewed four-panelled doors within original openings, each topped with a single ring cambered head. The windows are paired casements; the window in number 11 has been replaced with a smaller two-light shop window. Upper windows also feature paired casements with single ring cambered heads. There are blind window spaces above the doorways. A dentilled eaves band runs along the top of the building. Rear wings and axial stacks are visible at the rear.
