Description

No. 15 High Street is a house that has been converted into shops and offices, dating from the late 18th century. The building is constructed of red brick, which has been painted on the front, and features painted sandstone ashlar dressings. It has a 20th-century tiled roof and stands three storeys tall. The exterior includes remnants of a moulded plinth on the left and right sides, flanking quoin strips, and a moulded stone eaves cornice. The right gable end is rendered and has a stone casing, with integral brick end stacks.

The building has two bays, with first-floor Venetian windows that have glazing bar sashes, bracketed cills, and square piers supporting sections of entablature, along with a moulded architrave at the center. The second-floor features 4-pane sashes with moulded architraves. There are also a pair of late 20th-century plate-glass shop fronts, which include a central recessed porch with three glazed doors. At the rear, there is an early 19th-century gabled wing that is two storeys high with an attic, featuring dentil brick eaves and glazing bar sashes.

Inside, the first-floor left-hand room contains an 18th-century fireplace with a moulded surround. The right-hand room on the first floor has fittings from around 1840, including a marble fireplace, a picture rail, and a moulded cornice. The doors are six-panelled with moulded architraves.
