Description
No. 9 High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop, dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of red brick, with the ground floor on the left rendered and designed to resemble ashlar stone. The building features a plain tile roof and stands two storeys tall with an attic. It has a plinth, a plastered plat band at the first-floor cill level, and a moulded eaves cornice. There are two hipped eaves dormers that contain horizontal-sliding glazing bar sashes, with slate-hung sides. A stack is located behind the ridge, slightly off-centre to the right.
The façade has four bays, with first-floor windows that are four-pane sashes and have painted stone lintels. On the right side, there is a late 19th and 20th-century shop front, which includes two plate-glass windows flanking a central half-glazed two-panel door with an overlight. Above this is a continuous fascia and cornice. To the left, there is an entrance to a passageway, featuring a door with six beaded flush panels and a rectangular overlight that is lettered "ESTD 1820 / PRINTING OFFICE". The interior has not been inspected.
