Description

Nos. 14 and 15 on Corve Street are houses that have been converted into shops, offices, and flats. They date from the late 18th century and are constructed of brick with an ashlar plinth and a plain tile roof, featuring brick ridge stacks. The buildings have a three-unit plan and stand three storeys high, with a five-window range. On the right side, there are 6/6 sash windows, with 3/6 sashes above. The left side has late 19th-century plain sashes set in moulded cases within recessed openings, featuring painted keystones in gauged brick flat arches.

The parapet has a brick coping, and the entrances at each end lead to a passage at the rear. These entrances have 6-fielded-panel doors with decorated lintels and fanlights, recessed in panelled, moulded, round-headed cases under moulded and modillioned open pediment hoods on moulded pilasters. The left side features 1/1 sashes (late 19th century to the left) and an inserted 19th-century, 4-panel door in a panelled case beneath a moulded flat hood on consoles, with a banded architrave.

The left return side has a storey band at the first floor and inserted 20th-century casements under timber lintels. The gables are stone-coped, and there are brick modillion eaves at the rear. The rear includes twin gable wings and additional 19th and 20th-century two-storey wings. Inside, the ground floor centre retains panelling and a moulded ceiling cornice, while the left side of the first floor retains an ornate ceiling cornice.
