Description
The Haslam memorial is a pedestal tomb located approximately 3 metres to the south-east of the south aisle of the Church of Saint Mary in Market Drayton. It is dated 1823 and constructed from grey sandstone ashlar. The tomb features a moulded plinth, raised side panels, and corner piers with shallow recessed panels. It has a fluted frieze with circular panels at the corners and a moulded cornice leading to a shallow pyramidal top. There is a low surrounding wall, which are the remains of a former railed enclosure. The pedestal is inscribed in memory of Martha Anne, wife of Joseph Haslam, who died on 24 March 1793, and Joseph Haslam, who died on 17 May 1823. The tomb likely dates from 1823.
