Description
The obelisk, located approximately 25 meters east of Lee Bridge House, is a Grade II listed structure dating from 1812. It is made of sandstone and features a square section that tapers towards the top. The obelisk has a cavetto-moulded plinth and a square base, and it was originally topped with a ball finial. An inscription on the plinth states, "The Tenantry of Besford and Lee-Bridge erected this obelisk as a token of esteem to their landlord Sir Andrew Vincent Corbet Bart. and to commemorate the coming of age of his eldest son Vincent Rowland Corbet Esq." A short verse below the inscription was illegible during the resurvey in January 1986. The structure is marked as a monument on the Ordnance Survey map.
