Description

This is a farmhouse, likely dating from the late 15th or 16th century, with significant alterations in the mid-to-late 19th century. It is timber-framed and largely rebuilt with a facade of coursed limestone and sandstone rubble, topped with a slate roof. The farmhouse originally consisted of two framed bays, possibly part of a larger house. It is two stories high. A brick end-stack is built into the left side of the structure. The front has two- and three-light wooden casement windows, dating from the mid-to-late 19th and 20th centuries. To the left is a lower, single-story block with a corrugated iron roof. A boarded door with a bracketed porch is located on the right side of the farmhouse, and another boarded door leads to an adjoining outbuilding on the left. Inside, a central tie-beam and double collar truss is supported by queen struts. A central square-panelled timber-framed cross wall, showing the foot of a probable cruck blade to the southwest, is also present. One ground floor room has a six-compartment cross-beam ceiling with deep chamfered beams and wall plates. A large open fireplace completes the interior features.
