Description
The Judge's Lodging is an early 18th-century house located in Shrewsbury. It is constructed of brick with stone quoins and sill bands, topped with a plain tiled roof. The building is three stories high and features six bays. The central doorway is adorned with a deeply moulded pediment and a bolection moulded architrave, flanked by sidelights that have finely gauged flat-arched brick heads. To the left of the doorway are two blind window spaces, while to the right are two 12-pane sash windows on each floor, along with 12-pane sashes above the doorway. The exterior includes a moulded eaves band and a high parapet with blank recessed panels, as well as gable end stacks. The rear elevation showcases two full-height canted bays on either side of a central section that features a doorcase with a segmental broken pediment topped with an urn. Inside, the entrance hall contains a staircase with two balusters on each step and scrolled tread ends, along with panelled rooms and a plastered ceiling from the 18th century.
