Description
This is a pair of houses, currently partly used as a clinic and dental surgery, located at 5 Belmont. They date from the late 18th century and may have an earlier core. The buildings are constructed of brick and have a plain tiled roof. They are three stories tall with six bays, featuring a central bay that is slightly advanced. The doorway has a simple open pedimented hood supported by console brackets. The houses have 12-pane sash windows, although some have been replaced with 4-paned windows, and they feature flat-arched brick heads. An additional doorway has been inserted where a window used to be on the right side of the elevation.
No. 5A is an earlier structure, consisting of two bays and two stories, with 12-pane sash windows that have flat-arched finely gauged brick heads and coped gables. The gable end stacks include one on the left with a fluted base, indicating that this part may have been an early structure that was remodeled or refronted. No. 5A was listed on May 30, 1969.
