Description
This barn, located about 40 meters north-west of Boscobel House, dates back to the 17th century and has undergone later alterations and repairs. It features a timber frame set on a stone plinth, with red brick infill and a plain tiled roof. The barn is rectangular and consists of five bays, displaying two rows of small square panels at the eaves. The left-hand corner has a straight brace to the north-west, while the south-east side shows irregular, heavy square frame panels, with approximately three or four panels at the eaves and single pegging. The roof is constructed with Queen Strut and possibly later inserted King Post construction. An early 19th-century brick extension is located to the south-west, which has a gabled hoist entry on the south side and was formerly used to house machinery and an engine. The barn is also designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
