Description
The churchyard retaining wall at the rear of numbers 6-10 on Great Hales Street is likely from the late medieval period, with some additions made in the mid-20th century. It is constructed from dressed red sandstone, topped with a section of 20th-century brick. The wall is approximately 20 metres long and features a pair of large buttresses that have chamfered tops and stepped offsets. This wall forms part of the north-west boundary of Saint Mary's Churchyard and is situated about 24 metres to the north-east of the chancel. Note that number 10, Great Hales Street is not included in this listing.
