Description
The Rotunda, located approximately 160 metres to the east of Hawkstone Hall, dates from before 1784. It is constructed of grey sandstone ashlar and features an octagonal plan. The base has a moulded plinth and is supported by square Tuscan piers. Above the piers is an entablature with breaks, leading to a blocking course and a high ribbed dome. There are flights of five stone steps on the east and west sides, flanked by side walls and end piers that hold cast-iron urns. This rotunda was originally part of a pair situated along the Temple Walk to the east of Hawkstone Hall, with the other rotunda collapsing in 1957.
