IGHTFIELD C.P. CALVERHALL Sundial approx. 45 metres to south-west of Cloverley Hall

Sundial. Dated 1872, probably by William Eden Nesfield. Portland stone. Octagonal plan. Plinth with moulded top, circular stem with 4 carved floral panels divided by carved pilaster strips, and moulded top. 2 panels with inscriptions, illegible at time of survey (October 1986). Copper dial plate inscribed with shields etc., and inscribed: "J.P. HEYWOOD AD. 1872 / ALTE VOLO", and gnomon incorporating a bird and inscribed: "ALTE" and "1872". 3 stone steps with glazed tiles to risers.
