Description
This is a barn and horse engine house built in the late 18th century or early 19th century, located approximately 55 metres to the north-west of Fitz Manor. The structure features a timber frame with brick nogging and red sandstone ashlar that has herringbone tooling. It has a corrugated asbestos roof, narrow vents on the south-east side, and lozenge vents on the north-west side. The building includes boarded loft and stable doors, with a cart entry at the south-west end. The polygonal horse engine house projects to the north-west and is supported by red sandstone piers, topped with a hipped graded slate roof. Inside the barn, there are king-post trusses, while the horse engine house retains its central spindle, which is a rare feature. This barn is no longer associated with Fitz Manor and is now part of Manor Farm.
