Description
12 and 13 Bull Ring are shops and dwellings, currently used as shops and offices. The building features a 20th-century front but has a core that dates back to the 18th century and earlier. It is constructed of brick and has a plain tile roof with two ridge lines, along with a brick end stack on No. 12. The structure is three stories high and has a three-window range. On the left side, there are late 19th-century plain sash windows under stucco lintels with keyblocks, while on the right side, there is an early 19th-century 8/8 sash window under a grooved stucco lintel, along with plain sashes and a 4/8 sash above. The eaves are moulded and corbelled wood. The shopfronts are from the 20th century and feature a continuous hood and fascia-board.
Inside, No. 12 has exposed 17th-century box-framing on the ground floor left, with massive 16th-century or earlier framing on the first floor and additional framing on the second floor. No. 13 contains fragments of massive timber-frame construction, and the rear wings have some 16th-century or earlier timber-framing. The building is included for its group value.
