Description
Risbury Mill and the adjoining granary are a corn mill and granary from the 18th century, situated on an older site and altered in the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of sandstone rubble and brick, with some weatherboarding and a slate roof. It has three levels, with the third level added in brick during the 19th century. The south front elevation features a ground floor square window, a first floor 2-light window, a loft door inserted into a smaller opening with a cambered head, and two stable doors, one of which also has a cambered head. An overshot wheel partially survives at the east end. Inside, most of the mill machinery remains, including two of the three pairs of French burr millstones, along with the rotating cleaners, chutes, and gearing. The granary, which adjoins the west end of the mill, has two levels and two bays, with the south elevation featuring an upper level window, a loft door, and a double doorway below.
