Description
Hereford Lodge, along with its gate piers to the west and the flanking brick wall to the east, is a significant building constructed around 1792 by William Wilkins. This lodge is made of red brick with ashlar dressings and features a domed roof. It is octagonal in shape, with a projection facing west. The building has two storeys and includes a string course and a moulded cornice with a blocking course. The dome is topped with a circular shaft for the stack. The windows are glazing bar sash windows located above a Tuscan portico in antis, with a blind window that retains trompe d'oeil lace curtains and geraniums on the window sill. The gate piers to the west have moulded ashlar bases and capping. There are 20th-century additions to the rear of the lodge.
