Description

The Garrold Monument is a chest tomb located about 3 yards southeast of the chancel of the Church of St John of Jerusalem. It dates from 1741 and was created for Thomas Garrold. The tomb is made of sandstone ashlar and features a moulded base with a moulded stepped hipped capping. The end panels are deeply moulded, each adorned with a central apron motif, and the side panels have quadrant corners to their moulded margins. This monument is included for its group value.
