Description

The Poole Monument is a pedestal tomb located about 20 yards east of the east end of the chancel of the Church of SS Phillip and James. It commemorates John Poole, who died in 1830. The tomb is made of finely cut sandstone and features roll mouldings at the base and corners, a deeply projecting cornice, stepped capping, and an urn finial. There are oval inscription panels on the monument. This structure is part of a group with the nearby Godsall pedestal tomb, which is contemporary and likely created by the same craftsman.
