Description

A group of eight chest tombs and one pedestal tomb is located about 3 to 10 yards south-west of the south-west corner of the Church of St Peter.

The chest tomb for John Addis, who died in 1837, is made of sandstone ashlar and features hipped capping and corner balusters. The chest tomb for Jane Ambrey, who died in 1802, is also sandstone ashlar with hipped capping. The chest tomb for Mary Hardwick, who died in 1827, has curved hipped capping and is made of sandstone ashlar. The chest tomb for Mary Ambury, who died in 1827, features hipped capping with corner balusters and is made of sandstone ashlar. The chest tomb for Joseph Ambury, who died in 1824, has flat capping and corner balusters, constructed from sandstone ashlar. The chest tomb for Thomas Hardwick, who died in 1848, features hipped curved and stepped capping with fluted columnar corner posts, and is made of sandstone ashlar. The chest tomb for Thomas Watham, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, is made of sandstone ashlar and has hipped capping, oval margins, and corner paterae on the side panels, with bulbous end panels featuring central rosettes. The chest tomb for Catherine Hardwick, who died in 1845, is made of sandstone ashlar and is styled similarly to that of Thomas Hardwick.

The pedestal tomb for Thomas Watham, dated around 1840, is made of sandstone ashlar and features stepped capping with a missing finial and oval margins on the side panels.
