Description
The building is a barn and byre, likely dating from the late 18th century, located about 30 yards west of Marlbrook Hall. It is timber-framed and weatherboarded, with some boarded infill panels set on a tall brick base, brick end walls, and a corrugated metal roof. The structure features an eight-bay range, consisting of a three-bay barn aligned north to south, which includes a central wagon bay and opposing cart entries. Adjoining the south end is a five-bay byre that continues the roofline. The byre is partly two levels and has six square openings, some of which are in blocked former doorways, along with an inserted wide doorway and two additional doorways in its main east elevation. Inside, there are three and two panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with intermediate tie-beam trusses that include two main raking struts and subsidiary raking struts in the lower corners. The roof structure also features two tiers of trenched purlins.
