Description
Bank Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the late 17th century to the early 18th century. It features a timber-frame structure with brick infill panels set on a stone plinth, topped by hipped tiled roofs. The building is two storeys high with an attic and consists of a three-bay range with a two-bay cross-wing to the right of the entrance front. The fenestration is irregular, including a 6-pane casement to the right of the entrance, twin 19th-century plate glass sashes on the right-hand return, and an early 20th-century 6-pane vented casement above. The entrance is through a ledged door located under an early 20th-century open porch with a hipped tiled roof, which is accessed by steps. There are external local type stacks to the left of the porch and to the right-hand return, along with a catslide painted brick extension from the 19th century to the left of the front stack. The timber framing is straight and heavy, with four panels high to the wall-plate from the cill. Inside, the floors are flagged throughout, and there is a ledged door leading to the garden from the centre bay. The winder stairs at the junction of the main range and the cross-wing features a section of late 17th-century handrail.
