Description

The bridge located about 30 yards south-west of Risbury Bridge is a former road bridge that crosses Hampton Brook. It is likely of medieval origin and constructed from sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings. The bridge features two round arches with ashlar voussoirs that are just visible above ground level. It measures approximately 6 and a half feet in width and 8 yards in length, rising only about 2 feet above the ground. This structure represents the earlier course of the road before the current Risbury Bridge was built in the 19th century. Its overall appearance and narrowness suggest a medieval date.
