Description
Close House is a mid-18th century brick house located on the north side of Common Close in Kington. It features a Welsh slate roof with a gable facing the street, a reduced brick end stack, and a brick axial lateral stack. The building has two storeys, an attic, and a cellar, with a three-window range. The central window is a 6/6 sash, flanked by two 8/8 sashes, all set under brick flat arches. To the right of the central window, there is a wrought-iron balconette. The central entrance consists of a 20th-century eight-panel door with an ornate overlight, sheltered by a moulded wood flat hood supported by square columns and pilasters. The entrance is flanked by two 8/8 sashes, also under brick flat arches, with a storey band above. On the right side of the building, there is an 8/8 sash on both the ground and first floors, with a returned storey band and a 6/6 sash in the gable, all featuring gauged brick arches and a balconette on the first floor.
