Description

Sycamore Cottage is one of a row of early 19th-century cottages located on the north side of Common Close in Kington. The cottages are constructed of sandstone rubble with a Welsh slate roof and brick ridge stacks. A rubble buttress stack with a brick chimney is situated to the left. The cottages have two storeys and a seven-window front. The windows are primarily 2/2 sash windows with broad beaded casings, with a 3/4 sash window to the left. Number 4 features a half-glazed 4-panel door and a 2/2 sash window under an ashlar lintel. Number 5 has a 4-panel door with an open pediment wooden hood supported by consoles and pilasters, flanked by canted bay windows containing 1/1, 2/2, 1/1, and 2/2 sash windows. Number 6A has a half-glazed, moulded panel door and a 2/2 sash window to the right. Number 7 has a plank door and a 2-light casement window to the left.
