Description
This description covers a group of two monuments located about 10 yards south of the chancel of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The first is a chest tomb for Joseph Bonnor, who died in 1782. It is made of sandstone ashlar and features a flat moulded capping, corner balusters, and fielded side panels with moulded margins. This tomb is situated approximately two yards southeast of the southeast corner of the south aisle.
The second monument is a chest tomb for James Jones, who died in 1825. Also constructed from sandstone ashlar, it has a deep moulded plinth, hipped moulded capping, and corner balusters adorned with acanthus decoration. The side panels of this tomb have incised margins with quadrant corners and are located about 12 yards south of the easternmost south-facing window of the chancel.
