Description

This is a barn, stables, dovecot, and adjacent outbuildings located about 20 yards east of Llandinabo Farmhouse. Likely built in the late 18th century to early 19th century, the buildings have undergone some later alterations. They are constructed from sandstone rubble and feature roofs made of pantile, corrugated asbestos, and Welsh slate. The layout is L-shaped, with an eight-bay barn running roughly east to west, and a stable at the eastern end. To the south of the barn is a five-bay former cowshelter range, which includes the dovecot in its middle bay.

The barn has early 20th-century full-height two-leaved doors at the center of the south elevation, flanked by ventilation slits. Inside, it features triple angle strut trusses and remnants of wall framing with three square panels high on the north side. Adjacent to a door beneath a tallet at the east end of the barn is the stable, which has two stable doors with a horizontally hung window between them and a loft opening, all with segmental heads. The right-hand stable door leads to three loose boxes made by the St Pancras Ironworks, likely from the late 19th century, which have ball finials on the columns separating the boxes and cast iron doors with plank infill.

The dovecot is topped with a pyramidical Welsh slate roof and features a mid-20th-century louvred glover. It has a square plan with an entry on the west side, accessed through an iron grill set between cylindrical piers. The flanking former cowshelter also has cylindrical piers on the west side. The east wall of the cowshelter and the dovecot appear to be constructed as one. This barn, stable, and dovecot range creates a strong visual connection between the Church of St Junabius and Llandinabo Farmhouse, contributing to their group value.
