Description
This building is a barn, stables, and granary located about 80 yards west-south-west of Caradoc Court. It dates back to 1634 and 1635, as indicated by inscribed tablets. The structure is made of finely coursed sandstone rubble with sandstone dressings, topped with tile and stone slate roofs. It has a longitudinal plan that runs roughly north to south.
To the south, there is a seven-bay barn, while the north side features four bays for the stables and granary, which includes a three-bay extension to the north. The barn's west elevation has two rows of vent slits and entries leading to two threshing floors, with one entry blocked. The east elevation showcases two sets of full-height doors with two leaves each, set under dressed segmental heads. Inside, the barn has bolted king-post trusses with pegged angle struts.
The stables and granary have a west elevation featuring five stable doors with segmental heads, while the east elevation includes tallet stairs that rise from the north. The interior of the stables and granary features trusses made of cruck blades clasped between early 19th-century struts. The extension to the north of the stables and granary is also early 19th century. The date tablets have been repositioned: 1665 is on the north gable of the extension, and 1634 is on the south gable of the barn.
