Description
Carthage is a farmhouse built in the 18th century and altered in the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed of rendered sandstone rubble and features a hipped Welsh slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan with end stacks and a right-of-centre entrance on the north front. It is flanked by service blocks, with the one to the west adjoining the main house and the east block being detached. The farmhouse has two storeys and attics.
On the north front, there are three gabled dormers with 6-pane glazing bar sash windows and three 12-pane glazing bar sash windows below. The entrance features a doorway with a pedimented surround, a fanlight, and a 6-panelled door. To the right, there is a single-storey west adjoining wing that includes a 3-light casement window.
