Description
This barn, located about 40 yards south of Ashe Farmhouse, is likely from the 18th century and has undergone some alterations in the late 20th century. It is constructed from sandstone rubble and features a pantiled roof. The barn consists of seven bays arranged in a south-west to north-east orientation. The south elevation displays three rows of loop openings on either side of a central entry with a raking top, which is fitted with full-height double-leaved ledged doors. Inside, the structure has trusses supported by two posts that connect the ties to collars, with curved braces extending from the ties to the outer sides of the posts. The pantiled roof was added around 1984. This barn serves to enclose the farmyard to the south of Ashe Farmhouse and has its western gable positioned close to the roadside. It is included for its group value with the farmhouse.
