Description

Ashe Farmhouse is a farmhouse, likely dating back to the 15th century, with significant alterations and expansions in the 17th and 18th centuries. The construction utilizes squared sandstone, with asbestos slate roofs, the south side being hipped. It features sandstone stacks with brick shafts and a rectangular plan aligned north/south, incorporating a cellar and two storeys with attics.

The east elevation contains a four-bay by three-bay window arrangement. Early and late 20th-century 2-light casements are present on the left, while lower 3-light, late 20th-century casements occupy the centre and provide access to the right-hand side. A large stack is located to the right of the centre, and the left side of the roof is hipped. The north elevation exhibits twin gables and a blocked 2-light mullioned window.

Inside, an exposed cruck blade is visible near the central stack. A late 17th-century dog-leg staircase with four flights features turned balusters, moulded strings, and handrail, complemented by turned pendants on the newel posts. Re-positioned 17th-century panelling with moulded surrounds can be found in the room to the west of the principal chimney.
