Description
The Church of St Paul is a parish church built around 1865 by F.R. Kempson. It features coursed dressed rubble with ashlar sandstone detailing and a Welsh slate roof, along with a stone stack at the chancel. The church comprises a chancel, nave, north and south aisles, and a south-west tower. The aisles have three two-light windows with trefoil heads beneath moulded drip-courses. The east window is similar, featuring a pair of lights and a rose window, flanked by stepped pilasters. The tower is adorned with corner pilasters and has an enriched brooch spire topped with a weathercock. The south-west porch has a chamfered pointed arch, and the west doorway features a trefoil-headed arch with a rose window above it.
Inside, the church showcases polychrome brick with ashlar detailing, a scissor-braced roof, and ornate arcading in the aisles. The interior includes 19th and 20th-century glass by Morris & Company, as well as early 20th-century woodwork.
