Description
Upper Egleton Court is a farmhouse that dates back to the late 16th century, with a rear wing that has been obscured by mid-19th century remodelling. The building features a timber frame with painted brick infill, a sandstone stack and plinth, and a red brick house from the 19th century with ashlar dressings and a tiled roof. The house is single depth with end stacks and a central entrance facing south. The rear wing extends to the north and includes a large external lateral stack. There are hop kilns and a hop store adjoining the house to the west, although these are not of special architectural interest.
The farmhouse is two storeys high, with attics and cellars, and the rear wing is single storey with an attic. The south front has two gables, each with a single light in the gables, and two 2-light windows with hoodmoulds below a central half-glazed door. The timber-framed rear wing appears largely complete, showcasing three square panels from sill to wall-plate with lozenge framing in the north gable. The building is included for its surviving 16th-century fabric.
