Description
Toll Cottage, located south of Number 45 on The Southend, is a red brick toll cottage dating from around 1840, which encases a likely 17th-century timber-framed structure, with the timber framing visible on the north end. The cottage features a tiled roof with gable ends and is one storey high with an attic. It has one window width. The ground floor includes a four-centred arched doorway with a carved tympanum and a door that has vertical cover moulds. There is also a two-light casement window with glazing bars, a lintel, and quoins. The large attic features a gabled dormer with a casement window. A diagonally set brick chimney stack and ornate crested ridge tiles add to the cottage's character.
