Description

A ciderhouse, now used as a store, likely dates from the 18th century. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with a tiled roof and stands approximately 30 yards south of Ashe Ingen Court. The building is six bays long, oriented roughly north/south, and has two levels. The east-facing elevation features two rows of 15 ventilation loops. The north gable has a verge and a centrally placed, segmentally headed doorway with a studded door on each level. Internally, the three central trusses have curved principals without collars. The two outer trusses have collars supporting central vertical posts pegged to the principals, with these posts projecting beyond the principals as ridge pieces. External stone stairs to the loft, previously noted on the south elevation by the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments, were not present during a resurvey in September 1985. Ashe Ingen Court is not included as part of this listing.
