Description
Upper House is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with significant alterations made in the 20th century. The building features square panelled timber-framing, with sections of wattle-and-daub and some 20th-century infill, resting on a sandstone rubble plinth and topped with a tiled roof. It is designed in an L-shape, with wings oriented southwest to northeast and northwest to southeast, meeting at the northwest end. The original through-passage has been blocked off, and there are both a lateral stack and a gable-end stack.
The house has two storeys. On the northeast front, there is a gabled dormer featuring a three-light 20th-century window, and a similar three-light window on the ground floor. The gable end of the cross-wing to the right has two 2-light 20th-century windows. The ground floor also includes a multi-paned 20th-century window to the right of a half-glazed 20th-century door. Inside, the property boasts chamfered ceiling beams and a blocked doorway with a segmental head.
