Description

The Beavan Monument is a pedestal tomb located about 20 yards south of the west end of the Church of St Margaret. It is probably from the early 19th century and is reputedly dedicated to the Beavan family, although the inscription is eroded. The monument is made of sandstone ashlar and features a moulded base and capping, a frieze and cornice, and paterae at the corners of each face. It has a depressed pyramidical cap topped with a cross-gabled finial. This tomb is a prominent feature in the churchyard.
