Description
The Phillpots Monument is a pedestal tomb located about 6 yards southeast of the south porch of the Church of St Weonard. It commemorates William Phillpots, who died in 1772. The monument is made of sandstone ashlar and features a deep plain plinth. The corner balusters are gadrooned and adorned with acanthus leaves. The frieze displays vertical acanthus leaves, and it is topped with a stepped moulded capping that has a pyramidical finial. There are also oval raised inscription panels on the monument.
