Description

The churchyard cross and sundial, located about 20 yards south of the easternmost nave window on the south side of the Church of St Weonard, consists of a base likely dating from the 15th century and a shaft that probably dates from the late 19th century, with a sundial that may be slightly older, inscribed "Bate, London." The structure is made of sandstone ashlar. The octagonal base features a moulded top edge, and the west side includes a niche with a 2-centred head set within a moulded square-headed surround. The upper section of the octagonal shaft is square with corner chamfers that transition to an octagonal shape. A fluted octagonal capital, dating from the 19th or early 20th century, serves as a table for the copper sundial.
