Description

The buildings at 9 and 11 Broad Street, Leominster, are a pair of late 18th-century houses, later used as a bank and shop. They are constructed of brick with a steep-pitched slate roof, topped with stone and tile-coped gable parapets. Two brick ridge stacks are present.

The building has three storeys and a cellar, with a seven-window front. Four late 19th-century plain sash windows are present on the left side, and to the right are three 6/6 sash windows in moulded cases, set under segmental arches and a storey band on the first and second floors. The parapet is pilastered with moulded stone coping.

The central entrances are paired. Number 9 has a six-moulded-panel door and overlight with coloured glass. Number 11 features a six-fielded-panel door set in panelled reveals, beneath an enriched panel. Both doors are protected by moulded stone flat hoods, with a coved pediment to number 9, supported on enriched consoles and attached columns. To the left is a section with three late 19th-century plain sash windows under segmental arches and a rendered storey band. To the right is a late 19th-century shop front, featuring recessed half-glazed panelled doors to the left, a window with moulded glazing shafts and clerestory lights, an enriched frieze to the fascia board, and a modillioned hood with figurehead consoles on panelled pilasters.

The interior of the buildings was not inspected, but number 11 retains panelling, ceiling cornices, two-panel doors, a six-panel door, and a staircase to the attic with turned balusters and a moulded rail. A six-panel door is flanked by 18th-century sash windows at the rear.
