Description

The summerhouse at number 34, located on the south side of High Street, is a small Gothic-style building dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of red sandstone and features flanking gabled wings adorned with grey stone finials. The cross wall has a parapet that rests on corbels with offsets below. Each wing contains long pointed windows with dripmoulds, and there is a similar door. The windows are filled with highly coloured glass. This summerhouse is often referred to as John Kyrle's summerhouse, although it is likely from a later period. The buildings numbered 28 to 40 consecutively form a group with this structure.
